Mariatou Doumbia

A girl born in 2017 lives in a large family with six siblings, five brothers and one sister. Her father is a mason, and her mother sells salad at the market. Neither parent has attended school, but everyone else in the extended family has, so they can help her with her studies. Food is served twice a day. Mariatou loves going to school, and her favorite subject is writing. She has a uniform and a notebook. At home, she sweeps, cleans, and washes dishes. She enjoys singing and dancing and is said to be a very good dancer. According to her mother, she is a respectful but energetic girl who talks a lot. She loves to eat, and when she can, she eats a lot! Her favorite dish is yassa chicken (chicken in onion sauce). She has many friends. Her favorite color is red. She dreams of having textbooks, a doll, and nice clothes.
