10-year-old Fatoumata's father was killed in 2021 during a nighttime attack in Dogonland, and she fled with her siblings to her aunt who lives in Bamako. Fatoumata is in the 4th grade, she studies very well despite having no school supplies and textbooks. Her 4 brothers and mother still remained in the village, their relatives could not accommodate them too. Her favorite subject is writing and text interpretation. She carries water and cleans the house. Yellow is her favorite color. She likes to play cooking and jumps to school with her friends. She is an obedient , not stubborn little girl, she doesn't fight, says the aunt.
